Racial Reconciliation

This is a very powerful story of racial reconciliation. A racist who beat African Americans during the civil rights campaign has openly apologised to those he hurt. Watch this video of Elwin Wilson apologising to John Lewis. As a Christian hearing this you can tell that this is very likely as a result of Wilson’s conversion to Christ. The “If you were to die tonight…” line is a dead give away.

The Koinonia blog has posted an interview they did at the recent SBL meeting with the authors of the new book The New Testament in Antiquity. The book sets the New Testament within its Hellenistic and Jewish context, offering lots of full colour illustrations.

Island Connection

Peter Kennedy is a student at Wycliffe College and comes into Crux somewhat regularly and buys good books. If you live in Canada, you may recognise him from various commercials (ie. Canadian Tire). He is also the artist behind Tuffkat Productions and Island Connection – A Spiritually Positive Screenwriting Project. He has done work on figures in church history like John Donne and is currently writing a screenplay on an Irish figure from our past (I won’t mention who).
Anyways, check him out and throw him some support!

Wilson vs. Hitchens on Video

You have to love our technological age. Back in the day when Fr. Coplestone debated Bertrand Russell on the BBC, the only people who got to see it had to be in attendance. In our day, with the advancements of media, we can witness a like event. Famed atheist Christopher Hitchens and pastor/satirist Doug Wilson have debated in a number of venues this past week. And we can already see footage of what is sure to be an awesome documentary (it’s done by Darren Doane, who did a lot of punk/hardcore videos that I used to love) of the whole thing.

Driscoll on the City Within A City

At The Resurgence website Mark Driscoll has an excellent two part series on Leadership Lessons from the book of Nehemiah dealing with how to build a city within a city. I listened to both this morning and was greatly helped by them. In particular, in the second part he answers questions about building this city and provides some very thoughtful answers based upon his experience in planting and building Mars Hill in Seattle. Part 1 (video) and Part 2 (video). Click the link for the outline of the lecture and scroll down for the audio or video file. I’ll probably be posting a lot more from this site in days to come!

Wintersleep – Weighty Ghost

Sorry I keep posting videos, but I’m too budy to write anything. This is a song called “Weighty Ghost” by an amazing band from the Maritimes (Halifax) called Wintersleep. What a catchy song! And so Canadian!

Dropkick Murphys – Shipping Up To Boston

Well, if you were at all frustrated with my last Dropkick Murphys video-post, here’s a better one. At least in this one the audio and video are in sync. Really, this is just an excuse to post another Dropkick video. I luv ’em.

Bar Room Hero

Since discovering that my old Dropkick Murphys CD The Gang’s All Here wasn’t stolen along with the rest of my CD collection (thank you Toronto street thug), I’ve been on a Dropkick Murphys kick (pardon the pun) lately. You gotta love Boston Irish punk. I thought I’d share a video of my favourite Dropkick song, from an earlier album, called Bar Room Hero.
