Discerning Reader Profile

Cool, my profile and picture is up at the Discerning Reader website. You can’t tell from the pic, but it was taken in the Princeton cemetery and I’m kneeling in front of B.B. Warfield’s grave.
I guess this means I should be getting more reviews in!
A number of my reviews aren’t listed under my profile though:
Gribben’s Rapture Fiction
Gasque’s Art and the Christian Mind
Haykin’s God Who Draws Near
Yuille’s Inner Sanctum
Hitchen’s Missionary Position

Review: Is Christianity Good for the World?

Atheist Christopher Hitchens and pastor Douglas Wilson debated the topic “Is Christianity good for the world?” on the Christianity Today Online site. Now it is in book form. I had the opportunity to read and review an advance copy. The review is here.

Review – Worship in Spirit and Truth by Frame

My review of John Frame’s book Worship in Spirit and Truth is up at the Discerning Reader website. We read large chunks of it for our course on worship at TBS. It really reshaped the way I think about how worship is conducted in the local church. I am very thankful to Frame for his insights and his willingness to say hard things, in spite of opposition. Even if one doesn’t always agree with him, Frame proves to be thoughtful and forces the reader to challenge their presuppositions (pun intended).

Review: Art and the Christian Mind by Laurel Gasque

Discerning Reader has posted the review I submitted of Laurel Gasque’s excellent little biography of Hans R. Rookmaaker called Art and the Christian Mind. I thoroughly enjoyed her book and now hope to delve more into the writings of her subject. Rookmaaker was quite a profound Christian man. I’m very thankful to Gasque for introducing contemporary readers to Rookmaaker. Thanks also to Tim Challies for allowing me to send him reviews.
