Dr. Geoff Adams

Last night, at 11:15pm, the Lord saw fit to call Dr. Geoff Adams home to glory. A long time professor of Old Testament Biblical Theology, and former Principal of Toronto Baptist Seminary, Dr. Adams has had, through his students, a tremendous influence for the gospel around the globe.
When you read this post, please take a moment to praise God for the life of Dr. Adams. God alone raised him up for the challenges of our day. Dr. Adams’ legacy of faithfulness to Christ is an example to us all. Even in his last days at the hospital, he was engaged in deep conversations about Christ with the nurses and orderlies. In true Geoff Adams fashion, he had Doug bring gospel tracts written by T.T. Shields to pass out! He will be deeply and sorely missed! Yet what a great hope we have as Christians. That one day we, along with Dr. Adams and the countless others, will be with Christ in the New Heavens and New Earth!!
Please also remember Dr. Adams’ family, especially his wonderful wife Betty, as they go through this very trying time. May our great God of peace be with them as a comfort and encouragement.
The funeral celebration will be on Tuesday, August 15th, 2006. It will be held at Jarvist Street Baptist Church at 11am. Visitation will be on Monday the 14th at 7pm and 9pm. For more information call Jarvis Street Baptist Church at 416.925.3261.

My sorrow is mingled with joy at the thought of Geoff seeing the tapestry of God’s revelation unhindered as he gazes upon the magnificence of the risen Christ.

Lord, grant me the faith to finish well even with such paltry beginnings compared to such a man!

My recent thoughts are posted at Cowboyology/Blessed Union. FYI.

    Grace to you brother,

A very appropriate post for such a marvelous man. It still doesn’t seem like it’s happened.
I was looking at one of the graduation photos in the upstairs classroom in the Seminary. It was one from the 60s with a picture of a young looking Principal Adams. He was such a healthy looking man. I wondered if that was how he looked now?

I really like your blog. I am trying to learn how to share Christ with non believers and I find it very hard when I’m asked specific questions. I have been born again for only 6 short years and I try to read my Bible and learn as much as I can but I still have such a hard time sharing the gospel. I like finding other people in the world like you who aren’t afraid to stand up and shout the truth. God Bless :)

    Hi KristieSue,
Thank you for your very kind comments, they are a great encouragement. It is edifying to know that the Lord uses even this blog to encourage His people!
If you ever have any questions about the faith, please feel free to ask. Praise God that He brought you into His fold!!!
    In Christ,
    Ian<><
