VDH – Scapegoating Guantanamo

I have mentioned Victor Davis Hanson on this blog before, so I’ll save the accolades. I will say that I continue to be impressed with his writing and find him to be a clear thinker on issues surrounding the current culture wars (ie. Iraq, Iran and the Western media’s spin about them). He has posted on his website an article recently written for Tribune Media Services where he shares his thoughts on the reactions of Europeans and left-leaning North Americans to Guantanamo Bay. Here’s a quote that gives you the gist:

Guantanamo Bay , like Bush himself, has become a symbol of
sorts. It is an easy scapegoat through which Europeans can vent their much
larger love-hate frustrations with their protector and rival, the hyper-power
America.
